DWI - how to stop it?

MANCHESTER, N.H.- Police say a man they pulled over for driving drunk continued to swig his beer during his arrest. Patrick Allain, 35, faces numerous charges after his arrest Monday night, the fourth time he's been arrested for driving while intoxicated. Police say he hit two other cars and initially refused to stop when officers tried to pull him over.

When he finally stopped, Allain allegedly continued to drink a 40-ounce bottle of beer, telling officers, "You can charge me with whatever you want. It's not going to stop me from drinking and driving."

M'kay... so you've heard the stories about repeat offenders of DWI and the often pussy punishments that they tend to get until they actually kill someone (even then, they get away far too easily).

Taking away the license often doesn't help - they'll drive licenceless
Fines don't help - they just buy cheaper booze for a bit
Taking away the car - easily defended against if they need the car to go shopping, work etc...
Jail time - Often a slap on the wrist

So...how do you stop DWI repeat offenders?

Breath alcohol sensing switches on the ignition. You blow into the tube before the switch unlocks. If yer toasted the switch won't unlock for X number hours...FOR ANYBODY. Works better than anything I've seen so far short of beheading.

First offence: Stiff fine, classes, and community service.

Second offense: Stiffer fine, 30 days jail time, community service, revocation of license.

Third offense: Loss of car, 6 months jail, insane fine, permanent banning of license, 5 years mandatory AA and drug testing intervals.

Fourth offense: chop off left hand and tattoo 'DUI' on their forehead.

Fifth offense: castration.

Sixth: death row.

Sorry. That one raised the :bs: flag. Some will get to use that excuse, but most would have to do without. Other than that, execution seems the best alternative...:devious:

Too cute for words
First offense: 25 lashes tied to a pillory in the public square, suspend their license and confiscate their vehicle. I honestly expect second offenses to be quite rare but 50 lashes and whoever provided them with access to a vehicle gets 25 and loses their license and vehicle. If it ain't cruel and unusual it ain't punishment.

Bish, they don't need a car if they're not allowed to drive. They fucked up, it's up to them to figure it out from there.

Granted, chcr..but ti doesn't stop them from trying to use that excuse.

SnP - I've heard of people having their friends blow the tube for them and the sale/creation of tube blowers made from turkey basters.

Some people are just incorrigible, though the 20 lashes thing might just work. :D

It's really simple. Plus, it helps with our problem with oil dependency.

The way to do it is too take away the car for the duration of the sentance including probation/parole, weather it is six days or six years. The repeat offenders are more then likely lower income people that don't have anything and more then likely do not have enough cash in the bank to buy a diferent car. Buy on credit? level enough fines on em that they will be huslting for food for at least a year that way they wont buy another car.
