Gas Prices - how are they where you are?

I heard on the radio that some places in Atlanta had been over four dollars, is that true?

It was. Then Sonny Perdue said Stop that, or we'll nail your ass to the wall, and they dropped back to 3 and under.

Rob, try the freeways. Your neck of the woods has always been ripoff central.

A US Representative from NC was on the radio this morning, chuckling at all you people panicking about running out of gas. According to this lady, every market in America has up to a 10 day supply of gas already refined and either in a pipeline or in transit at any given moment. The shortages are due to knuckleheads panicking, buying gouged gasoline at ridiculous markups, and creating a false shortage.

Congratulations.

Those Baaaaaaaaaaa stards. Getting us all fleeced like that.

If one or two stations charge, say, $4.189 while the vast majority are charging $3.299, can the few be accused of gouging in a free market?

It's official. I'm marking down "filling the tanks on both cars Sunday night, before the shit hit the fan" as the smartest move of the week.

I hear that.
I'm glad I got mine.
I just wish I had taken the cans, for the mower. :alienhuh:

The friggin gas was $1.25 a litre at 2:30am today..it seems to be hovering at $1.13 now...how the hell can it change over 10 cents in like 8 hours! This is fucking retarded!

I REALIZE it went DOWN and that is good but it means it can go UP just as fast!

With no power it may as well be $10./gal

that is crazy!!

I remember in montreal, during our ice storm, all kinds of places tryed price gouging, once the crisis was over, they got slammed hard, press, fines etc.

if it does hit $10/gal for no GOOD reason, hopefully there will be conciquenses.

Let me put it another way...

That plasma TV you've been looking at....it's on sale for a hundred bucks. However, it's not in stock & no rainchecks are being offered.

Like i said, no NEED for it to be that way.

not only gas, but stores charging $5.00 for a small bottle of water, when more is coming tomorrow, and they have stock.

No, Paul. He's saying that without power, they can't pump the gas anyway, so who the fuck cares what the price is in NO. They can't pump the stuff.

Tomorrow isn't here so it may as well be sci-fi fantasy to expext more.

I think there should be no prosecution for gouging. I think that people have long memories & once the emergency is over, let the people decide where to do business.

no manual pumps?

no generators, to run the pumps.

and when power comes back will it remain at $10/gal just cause they can?

In most cases, no. No manual pumps, and no way to run a generator with out gas. Big ol' PITA, huh?

As for what they'll charge when it comes back on, I have no idea. Let's backburner the righteous rage and take one crisis at a time, shall we?
