I was not referring to why they only checked hispanics. I was referring to why legals were arrested. They probably asked all the people they encountered for ID and when proper ID was not provided they arrested them. Standard procedure.
But to answwer your question, they probably had a tip off that Illegal hispanics were working at the establishment so they checked the suspect that fit the description.

I guess you misunderstood my point. Which was that all the hispanics were separated and made to prove their status and light skinned people were not. If you're going to do it, check everybody.

A couple problems. In the recent raids only hispanic looking people were hassled, as if it's ok to be illegal if your skin is the right color. That means many hispanic US citizens were also were messed with in error.
Also some of the workers arrested had kids in school or legal spouses so it splits up some families.
I agree fully. But then, I'm an immigrant myself, aren't I. And yes, I've been checked for paperwork before ... and even refused entry back into Canada once because something wasn't clear to an immigration agent. But it's simple math, isn't it? You can check 5000 workers in a plant in Atlanta and turn up 500 illegal hispanic, 50 illegal blacks, and one illegal caucasian. Then you'll have someone else bitching about inefficiency and wasting money. Next you'll want firemen to soak houses not billowing smoke ... just in case there's a fire inside.
As for legal spouses ... I think there's already laws in place for that, isn't there?

Yea, I really hate it when forums allow their staff & clientele to say things that are un-PC.
As for the point of the thread...the problem with illegal immigration is, by far larger with hispanics than any other group. When the Irish decide, en masse, to disregard our laws, then white guys with red hair should be rounded up & checked.
