Nah...you Canucks are Americans, alright. You just refuse to admit it because of that innate inferiority complex your government tries to perpetuate in order to keep your taxes at such an abominable level. :D

Simply amazing. The liberal press is using this to bash Republicans & the anti-religionists are using it to bash Christians.

Pat Robertson speaks on behalf of himself & perhaps the 700 Club. He represents nobody.

What he said was, in the end, correct but he said it on TV in front of God & everybody.

...then denied he said it, then admitted it, then apologized....
"Is it right to call for assassination? No, and I apologize for that statement," he said in a written statement. Earlier -- and despite video evidence to the contrary -- Robertson had insisted he was misquoted claiming "I didn't say 'assassination.' I said our special forces should 'take him out'."
(ripped shamelessly from the front page of cnn)

"I didn't say order a pizza, I said go get me one" :D

To be fair, I haven't seen very many Buddhist or Hindu terrorists blowing shit up in the US or Iraq or Israel... or, for that matter, Ireland.

As well as the other religions I mentioned. Strange how you ignore the others. Yet you seem to notice the Muslim terrorsits

It's funny how a few thousand murdered bodies, several demolished buildings & a batterred ship focus the energy.

In Ireland it would be Catholics moreso. But again my point was how easily people ignore terrorist who arent Muslim. Make mention of them with others and it seems like the only one that gets mentioned is Muslim. I have been stressing that not all terrorists are Muslim and not all Muslims are terrorists.

I wouldnt even say that Mark. Some are. But there are also Hindu, Buddhist, Christian, Muslim, I am sure even atheist and also other Pagan religions terrorists. We have been focusing most on the Muslim ones which is fine but why ignore the others?

Because they are't blowing up shit & murdering innocents today. When we found a non-Muslim terrorist who blew shit up (McVeigh) we ended his sorry assed life in a hurry.

Mulsim Terrorists are responsible for over 90% of todays terror. That's why they're targeted.

I think that 90% is a bit overzealous a number.

I found these.

Irish Republican Army (U.K., separatists)
subnav.gif
IRA Splinter Groups (U.K., separatists)
subnav.gif
Northern Ireland Loyalist Paramilitaries (U.K., extremists)
subnav.gif
Basque Fatherland and Liberty (Spain, separatists)
subnav.gif
November 17, Revolutionary People's Struggle (Greece, leftists)
subnav.gif
FARC, ELN, AUC (Colombia, rebels)
subnav.gif
Shining Path, Tupac Amaru (Peru, leftists)
subnav.gif
Aum Shinrikyo (Japan, cultists)
subnav.gif
American Militant Extremists (United States, radicals)
In addition...just because a group has members who are Muslim (even if its the majority), it'd be wrong to say that this was their driving force. Religion isn't always the force behind terrorist acts...if it was, "Muslim terrorists" wouldn't be attacking Muslim people (Tamil Tigers come to mind).

I'm thinking more like:

50% Political ideology (Islam, Tamil Tigers, North Korea)
35% Media
7% drugs, gangs
5% politicians
2% other

Maybe I'm not paying attention but I don't recall too many Irish bombs in the last 24-36 months.
It didn't bleed enough, I guess, to make the headlines. Same goes for Spain... when I was there, I didn't see any violent acts...but I did see acts of terrorism including slogans on gravestones and GVT buildings etc... Live, no less.

I gotta say, calling graffiti and such terrorism is a bit of a stretch. I can't recall anyone writing on anything and it making me feel terror.

I get incensed when monuments are defaced, but it does not make me afraid.

We as a culture are applying too fantastic a label on things these days. Sensationalism I suppose. But I see a clear and definable difference between some spray paint on a monument and an exploded hull of a building with scores of dead bodies about.
