It's all based on reputation though...and rep is tenuous at best, especially with the world's eyes on you. If the BBC started being more partisan in short order..people would notice...and hopefully start asking questions.

Irrelevent. The US Government does not have the authority to transfer wealth from its citizens to any private organization.

Whether these corporations asked or begged is inconsequrntial. Uncle Sam hasn't the right to stick his thumb in anyones pie.
