I've been thinking that for years, I just can't come up with a reason why you guys still use the english system other than laziness.

Quick questions

How many inches are in 18933.345 miles? go grab a calculator

How many cm are in 18933.345km?.....1893334500cm ;)
Exactly. You don't even have to think about it. Desides, you can drive through town at 80. ;)

But ya see, I already know how much a quart holds. I can go strawberry picking and know when I have about a quart of berries without needing to stop and measure. That's useful. I have no idea how much is in a centikiloquartmeter or whatever it would be.

Try it this way: How many square feet is your lot if'n it's 17-1/2 yards by 26-1/2 yards? Now how many square meters if it's 17.5x26.5 meters?

The UN uses Metric & tells you to stop or they'll yell stop again.

The USA uses the olde system & can kick yer ass. Any questions?

How many liters in a barrel?
Crude Oil, not gasoline (at least not to the end user).

Sure it is, by end users in almost every other country on the planet. The point was that the metric system is much easier to use (even for us, despite what SnP thinks), so it's my opinion that sticking with the "English" system (Which even the English don't use anymore except in carpentry) is dumb. Even our own military uses it. I guess the rest of us are just too stupid?

BTW, a barrel of crude is 42 US gallons, 35 Imperial gallons, or 159 liters (litres if you were a furriner ;) ).
Wouldn't liters and cubic meters make more sense?

I honestly don't get why you's'd want to do more math than you should have to.

I find metric much easier when speaking of temperatures.

What does fahrenheit "base" it's numbers off?
Celsius is obvious, water freezes at 0c, and boils at 100c.

I guess it's what ever you are used to though.

Yes, so you know that anything equal or below 0ºC means freezing temps.

Many people base their diet on an ammount of calories, but anyone knows what a calorie stands for?

Well, it is the energy you need to apply to a liter of water to elevate its temperature by 1ºC

I bet you'll have a hard time expressing that in your english dumbass units :p
