I get the red ones. I should try it, they'll be growing fruit soon. I don't put fertilizers or pesticides on any of my stuff so it should be ok.

No, actually I didn't. I thought about it but decided that removing all the cactus spines around it wasn't worth the effort. Those things also have very fine, hair-thin spines that you don't even see. But you feel them, that's for sure.

my dad has a friend at work who tried to eat a prickly pear but didn't know she had to remove the spines from the fruit first... she spent a good while removing the spines from her mouth !

Only once every thirty years or so. I figure to do it when I die. I figure we'll all be rotting and attracting flies then.
