Robert Jordan...I guess.
Works for me...I'm paraphrasing anyway

Damn right! We all know what gaming leads to... Next thing you know, he'd be blowing up the sewers in Muncie.

No you are just dead wrong. But keep looking for things to make you feel better.

Pardon me, but that post was based on ignorance of what happens in a war. Fact is, there are no second chances. If you were there, perhaps you would have let the child go. More power to you, but you weren't there, and I'm pretty sure you will never be put in such a situation. The soldier did what he had to do given the circumstances. How many times must somebody say this before it sinks in. If you wish to protest the war, do so, but never second-guess those of us who are ordered to go in there in this kind of situation. It's not about feeling good. It's about doing a thankless job in a little corner of the world that you, personally, would never go to, and, if you did, would never stay. We, as service folks, didn't choose to be here (spare me the platitudes of why we volunteered to be in the service), but we are here, and, as in every war, people get killed, maimed, and, yes, even get their feelings hurt. It's not about nice. It's about results. You can also spare us the grisley details about civilian deaths. As war goes, we've had extremely few. Even one innocent dying is tragic, but, before you begin your tirade, you must also concede that the US, above most every other country, strives to keep those deaths to a minimum. Don't believe me? Look up the statistics yourself, since you'll debate those with me instead of the truth, but, until you do, I leave you with this...You, flavio are, without a doubt, the most ignorant person in this regard I've ever argued with, and if a relatively few civilian casualties are all the facts you have, then you have nothing.

Gato - You seem to be going off on a tangent. This thread was simply about speculating what we would do in the situation (check the poll options). If we can't speculate then the thread is pointless.

Nowhere did I even condemn the soldier who shot the kid.

Take it easy. You seem to be putting an awful lot of words in my mouth.

In your own words....

Two rather unfortunate choices, kill him & have nightmares or die.

...or disarm him....or take the weapon when he hands it to you....maybe some other choices as well.

What about an invasion?

Invaders aren't cheered by the populace. Invaders don't stop this kind of thing they start it. Sorry flavio, you are just dead wrong on your stance against this war.

It makes me feel better knowing that 160 Iraqi children are now out of prison.

In other news....many children are dead now.

In your own words, this is an invasion which we should not feel good about because it is killing civilians, including children. Regardless of all the good that will come from this war, regardless of all the people Saddam has murdered and would have murdered if we had left him in power, you think that those deaths trump everything. I can't respond to you better than Gato already has...

Prove that many children died as a result of that. It's a piss-poor argument, and morally offensive as well. While it may not be propaganda, it doesn't prove anything...

He likes to post stupid little meaningless crap or insults directed at me whenever he gets the chance.

It's not as if it adds to the conversation but I think he believes that's what moderators do.

edit: Oh yeah, and emoticons....lots of emoticons.
