Its not a WAR anyway, it's occupation of a sovereign state by a foreign power. Iraq never declared war on the USA, the invasion wasn't even sanctioned by the UN.

i agree. actually since Kuwait has Iraq declared war on anyone?

So... what... you think we should just pull all the troops out now and let the country utterly rot?

I think not.

Iraq won't rot if the USA leaves, It will probably return to how it was before the USA invaded.

This is the rub...You laugh at the idea of us listening or caring what the UN says, but you use Iraq's noncompliance to UN resolutions as reason toinvade, occupy, and kill....Make up your fucking mind, will ya?

What exactly do you call 14 resolutions for Iraq to cease & desist? It was sanctioned.

Those resolutions DO NOT give sanction to the US to act on behalf of the UN. You're just playing word games....

Using your standards, the US must have a UN MANDATE to attack and occupy Israel. Wonder why we haven't done it?

Nothing bad but utter & complete chaos breaking out in Iraq & IMO, much more of the ME. With us out of the way, Iran now has full power in the region & will be willing to take parts/all of Iraq. Syria would have some fun probably. Even Turkey may settle their long established problem with the Kurds.

On top of all that, the US would never be trusted again to do what she said. Who would want a partner that backs out after a little in-fighting. Sounds much like the debacle of Vietnam.

What should be done is remove teh large infnatry units & the tanks & send in the Marines & some more SpecOps. They are trained to handle guerilla type warfare while the 4th & the tank brigades are kill & break specialists.

The US is a permanent member of the Security Council aren't we? The Security Council did not officially condem our actions did they? The individual countries may have bitched but tthe UN/UN Security council did not step to the plate when they had a chance. C'est LaVie

More words....The UN made it QUITE clear that they DID NOT SUPPORT OUR ACTION....So now...why haven't we attacked Israel? I missed your reply.

Huh? Israel isn't occupied by nor under attack from the US unless I'm missing breaking news.

But if we use your reasoning for attacking Iraq, the same reasoning should apply to the multitude of UN resolutions that Israel is defying. So why haven't we attacked Israel? I don't get it...

Because Israel is defending herself from internal & external attacks. Iraq was the loser of a war & agreed to the terms & conditions set forth by the UN Security Council & has failed to abide by them.

And what's wrong with setting up an Iraqi council, and pulling out? Why the fuck does this take upwards of five years?? Pull the yanks out, stick the UN in (neutral groudn per se), and set up the Iraqi council. Simple.

So... is this like the Weapons of Mass Destruction thing? Oh wait... you were wrong there, too.

Gonz, the special Op's units wouldn't know who to defend themselves against. One minute the average Iraqi is selling veges in the market, the next he's blowing up the local police station, they're all soldiers, the whole damn population, they've had internal unrest for centuries tribe agianst tribe something we know very little about.
The US has no defence against people who are prepared to carry out suicide attacks and where there is no clear enemy.

EXACTLY the same as Vietnam.
