Hey, spike, why don't you put into words how the President's association with Pat Robertson is even a close comparison to that of Obama's and Wright's?

It's not close. You can't seem to find any real effect of Wright on the way Obama governs. Even after saying Obama's stances on the issues "scream Black Liberation theology" you couldn't find any example of this "screaming".

However, Bush has appointed at least 150 graduates from Pat Robertson's college to his administration (many of them unqualified or underqualified). A college that only has about 700 students a year.

Now that is a real effect of a religious whackjob on government.

So are you going to answer the question yet? Why do you think it's ok for Bush to have such close ties to religious nutjobs?

Spikey, spikey, spikey. There's your problem. You're trying to suggest I said something that I didn't.

From the first page, post 10 & 11:

"They refuse to look at the issues look at you blindly."

"........look at the issues......"

"The one that screams marxist black liberation theology?"

One of Dictionary.com's definintions of scream is "to be conspicuous or startling: That red dress really screams."

I didn't say Obama stances on issues reek, drip, or ooze of black liberation theology. I didn't say that everytime Obama opens his mouth on a subject black liberation theology rolls out. I said that Obama's association with the issue of black liberation theology itself RE: rev Wright screams for attention in a prominent and discernible manner.

Why is that so hard for you to accept?

However, Bush has appointed at least 150 graduates from Pat Robertson's college to his administration (many of them unqualified or underqualified). A college that only has about 700 students a year.

Do you know if they ever say anything about hating whitey? Or goddamn America? Or the US of KKK A?

So are you going to answer the question yet? Why do you think it's ok for Bush to have such close ties to religious nutjobs?

Is Pat Robertson a "religious nutjob"? Can you define that term, and list some of the traits that Robertson has that leads you to think this way?

As an atheist, don't you yourself feel that most, if not all, devoutness is, infact, the indication of "a religious nutjob"?

1. There you go.

2. I don't think spike's an atheist. Haven't we had this discussion before? Maybe you weren't involved.

Note please that I am an atheist and that I at least feel that being a religious nutjob certainly trumps political affiliation. And no, being devoutly religious has nothing to do with being a "nutjob." Superstitious beliefs are everyone's own business. It's when you expect me to start kowtowing to your superstitions that we're going to have a problem.

I suppose it's because when we're talking about Obama's stances on the issues and you say "The one that screams black liberation theology" I was expecting that there would actually be one that you could mention that relates to black liberation theology.

Do you know if they ever say anything about hating whitey? Or goddamn America? Or the US of KKK A?

Are you not reading the things that he says or something? There's already been plenty of examples of his hate speech in this thread. Why are you ignoring them?

"You say you're supposed to be nice to the Episcopalians and the Presbyterians and the Methodists and this, that, and the other thing. Nonsense. I don't have to be nice to the spirit of the Antichrist. I can love the people who hold false opinions but I don't have to be nice to them."--Pat Robertson, The 700 Club, January 14, 1991

"The feminist agenda is not about equal rights for women. It is about a socialist, anti-family political movement that encourages women to leave their husbands, kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism, and become lesbians." -- Pat Robertson, fundraising letter, 1992

"I don't know that atheists should be considered citizens, nor should they be considered patriots. This is one nation under God."-- George Bush

Is Pat Robertson a "religious nutjob"? Can you define that term, and list some of the traits that Robertson has that leads you to think this way?

Read the quotes Cerise. And then answer the question already:

Why do you think it's ok for Bush to have such close ties to religious nutjobs?

Sixteen and 17 years ago?? You do know which Bush was running for President back then, don't you?

So GW obviously should have known a bit about Robertson's history right? Cersie there's no shortage of carzy hateful quotes from Pat, including the ones made about 9/11.

How much longer are you going to avoid answering the question? I'll retype it for you:

Why do you think it's ok for Bush to have such close ties to religious nutjobs?

Are you done skating around it yet...or are you going to continue to amke progressively weaker excuses for dancing around a simple question?

Are you speaking of Bush 41 or Bush 43?

By "close ties" do you mean that Bush Sr. and Robertson have in common the fact that they were both candidates for the Presidential election of 1988, or that Sr. or Jr. attended Robertson's church for 20 years?

It seems that you feel that most, if not all, conservative Christian displays of faith are the indication of "a religious nutjob". But not, for instance, radicialized Islamic displays of faith.

Any particular reason you feel that way?

43. I already made that clear.

By "close ties" do you mean

The close ties have been made clear already.

It seems that you feel that most, if not all, conservative Christian displays of faith are the indication of "a religious nutjob".

Is your defense now that the quotes by Robertson are completely reasonable or something? Are you denying that there is anything wrong with the views that Robertson has expressed in the quotes in this thread?

Why do you think it's ok for Bush to have such close ties to religious nutjobs?

How did you arrive at the opinion that the Bush administration's 8 year service to this country has been one of lies, corruption, incompetence, and criminality?
I know you heard it somewhere and believe every word of it.
8 year service? As in "that bull will service the cow when she comes in heat"?
:banana2:
This country has been screwed alright, but not in a good way. Ask any combat vet.
Not a big Obama or McCain fan, but no one could be more crooked than Five Deferments Cheney. (Forget Bush- he's a clueless decoy- Cheney's running the show, always has been):gun:
I hear there are one or two trout streams left in Wyoming he hasn't bought yet- with OUR money. (steps down from soapbox)

But let's get to it anyway. Here ya go:

Why do you think it's ok for Bush to have such close ties to religious nutjobs?
