It can't be that obvious if I am asking what it means and no one appears to be able to explain it.

You're making more out of this than it needs to be. Really indicative of what this dispute is, I suppose. Yet another political partisan football, with no one really sure what they're debating. You want it kept, they want it gone. Who knows why?

I "clearly" told you all that, in the History lesson post there, but all you
wanted to do was throw of on God.
Whether you like god or non, or don't believe is beside the point.
BTW Atleast 80% here still do.

In God we trust.

It means that the nation places value on morals & convictons that we are guided to do the right thing.

It's similar to the Declaration of Independence
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

There has to be some kind of "line" of morality, for comparison, and again
in a democracy, you have to go with the "Majority", and what they believe
is the best moral standard, AND...something short that will fit on there. :p

So you believe the motto gives your nation a divine imperative? That your government is automatically imbued with the very highest mandate, besides that of the people?

There is no way you will understand because you refuse to take it at face value. You, yourself, have said that you don't believe in God, so it should have no meaning for you no matter how it's explained.

I didn't say I don't believe in God, though.

Believing in God isn't enough, either. What do you do to live out Christ's word? The God of the Hebrews and of Jesus Christ is inescapably socialist in nature, for example.

Ahhh...so you believe in God, but do not trust in God. Interesting...because one requires the other.

That is what your explanation means, Gonz. Your morals and convictions are guided by God, you say. What tangible effect does this have? Is social policy handed down from Heaven?

How did you get that from what I said?

What I think of God is irrelevant here. My personal motto is not "In God I Trust." I don't believe that God influences me on a day to day basis, I believe that I am my own man and my decisions come from myself. I don't try to find a cosmic justification for my own actions.

If my own reading of the Bible is correct, Jesus Christ would be disgusted by how the USA is run, how the government acts. Jesus Christ was a socialist and a pacifist.

Or is that you believe the ancient God of the Hebrews has decided to take Americans in as His new "Chosen People?"
